The Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation Ltd (MMPRC) has been officially renamed as Visit Maldives Corporation Ltd, following a presidential decree issued today. The move marks a formal shift to align the organisation’s name with its internationally recognised tourism branding.
The decree also mandates changes to the company’s statutes and operational framework, signalling a broader restructuring beyond just the name. While the rebranding effort retains the familiar ‘Visit Maldives’ identity used in global tourism campaigns, minor updates have been introduced to the brand’s logo to reflect the change.
MMPRC was originally established in March 2010 with the mandate to promote the Maldives as a high-end travel destination. Over the years, the ‘Visit Maldives’ brand has become the face of the country’s tourism outreach efforts abroad.
Yesterday’s renaming follows previous announcements by the corporation to rebrand itself, partly as a response to public scrutiny and reputational damage from past corruption scandals. By adopting the Visit Maldives name officially, the organisation aims to reinforce its commitment to transparency and a renewed focus on tourism promotion.
The government has not yet provided further details on the operational changes or when the new statutes will come into effect.
