MPL Enhances Safety Culture with On-site Hazard and OHS Training

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has conducted a practical Hazard Identification and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Risk Management exercise as part of its latest initiative to strengthen workplace safety across its operations.

The exercise, held at Malé Commercial Harbour, followed a series of induction sessions conducted between 19th and 22nd May 2025. Each operations shift took part in the preparatory phase of the programme, which culminated in this hands-on session led by MPL’s Health and Safety Department.

During the training, staff were guided through procedures for recognising workplace hazards, assessing potential incident scenarios, and identifying both root causes and contributing factors. The goal, according to MPL, is to enable participants to take informed steps in mitigating risks on the ground.

MPL stated that these exercises are part of a broader effort to cultivate a strong safety culture, increase hazard awareness, and promote continuous operational improvements.

The company has framed this initiative as a reflection of its commitment to operational excellence and workforce wellbeing.
