In September, the Male’ Commercial Harbour, operated by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), successfully cleared a total of 6,160 TEUs (4,384 containers) of cargo, according to the latest statistics released by MPL.
Specifically, during September, the harbour had an average daily clearance rate of 205 TEUs, translating to 146 individual containers daily. This signifies a 7% decline compared to the previous month’s figures.
To provide a more detailed breakdown of the cargo handled in September, out of the total 4,384 containers cleared, 2,608 were 20-foot containers, while 1,776 were 40-foot containers.
During September, the harbour welcomed 16 container ships and 17 conventional cargo vessels.
As for September’s most frequently cleared perishable items, MPL’s data highlights bananas, watermelon, pumpkin, pineapple, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, and eggs.
