Maldives State Shipping (MSS) has announced a new venture to export frozen fish to Southeast Asian countries, in collaboration with the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO). This development marks a significant expansion in the company’s export operations.
On 14 July, MSS’s first shipment of frozen fish embarked on its journey to Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka aboard the cargo ship MSS Graphene. This initiative is part of MSS’s ongoing efforts to enhance the export capabilities of Maldivian fisheries.
MSS has a proven track record of successfully exporting fish from MIFCO and other Maldivian companies to European markets. The company represents Hapag-Lloyd, the world’s fourth-largest shipping line, and boasts a network of agents in over 30 countries.
With a fleet of five cargo ships and more than 2,000 containers, MSS continues to expand its shipping routes. Currently, the company operates cargo services from Colombo to Malé and from Dubai to Malé.
This new export route to Southeast Asia underscores MSS’s commitment to broadening its market reach and supporting the Maldivian fishing industry.
