Villa College has introduced a range of new programmes aimed at expanding educational opportunities and addressing the skills and specialisations needed in the Maldivian economy. The new offerings include a Master’s level programme, several certificate courses under the Sustainable and Integrated Labour Services (SAILS) project, and hospitality training under the Discover Hospitality Programme.
One of the key additions is the Master of Science in Aviation Management, designed for professionals seeking leadership roles in the Maldivian aviation sector. The programme focuses on airport and airline management, aviation safety, and sustainable practices, with particular emphasis on the unique conditions of the Maldives. Students will engage with industry experts, case studies, and complete a capstone project, preparing them for roles at organisations such as Maldives Airports Company Limited, Manta Air, Maldivian, and the Regional Airports Company Limited.
In partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development and supported by the World Bank, Villa College has also launched fully sponsored certificate courses through the SAILS project. These include Certificate 3 in Aquatic Recreation to be conducted in K. Maafushi and AA. Ukulhas, National Certificate 3 in Guest House Operations in B. Dharavandhoo, V. Fulidhoo and AA. Thoddoo, and National Certificate 3 in Snorkelling in K. Thulusdhoo and ADh. Dhigurah. A National Certificate 3 in Marine Mechanics will be offered in Malé City, alongside a two-month Basic Chinese Language course aimed at those working in the tourism sector.
Meanwhile, the Discover Hospitality Programme, delivered in collaboration with Universal Foundation, offers two fully sponsored courses for Maldivian youth: Certificate 3 in Hospitality and Certificate 3 in Culinary Arts. The hospitality programme involves two weeks of theory classes at Villa College followed by three months of practical training at a Universal resort, with students receiving a monthly stipend during their internship. The culinary arts programme includes 15 weeks of study followed by a two-month resort internship, offering practical experience in the culinary field.
Graduates from these programmes will receive Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) accredited certificates, enhancing their employability across key industries.
Applications for these programmes are open, with further information available on the Villa College website. Applications for SAILS project courses can be submitted through the Job Centre Portal.
