Niami – an application on the details of the schedules of all speedboats and ferries that run in Maldives under a schedule has been launched by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation. The application was launched during a ceremony held in Transport Authority by the Transport Minister Honorable Aishath Nahula on 15th April 2019.
Giving more information on the application, Assistant Director of Transport Authority Mr. Hussain Nazeer explained that it will include information regarding all transport arrangements by sea all around the country. Information available through the app include – any additional stops by the ferry, how long it will take to travel from your respective island to your destination island and the company who operates the ferry/speedboat will be accessible along with a contact to reach them.
However, he explained that the application currently only held information about the schedules of ferries and speedboats operated by the three companies subsidized by the government. He added that private company operations information will soon be added into the application in the near future.
The application is currently only available for download on Google Play Store. It will be made available for download on iOS App Store in the upcoming week as per Mr. Nazeer.
