President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed on Sunday morning for an official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. This visit marks his first official trip to Malaysia since assuming office.
During the visit, President Muizzu is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Anwar and hold official talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, exchanging views on regional and international matters, and exploring opportunities for new partnerships between the two countries. The two leaders are also expected to oversee the signing of key Memoranda of Understanding and Exchange of Notes in selected areas.
In addition to official engagements, President Muizzu will attend a Business Forum organised by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, where he will meet with prominent Malaysian investors. He is also scheduled to visit the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) to deliver a lecture titled “Intellectual Renaissance: Unveiling the Scientific and Modern Development of Islamic Civilisation.”
President Muizzu will meet with members of the Maldivian community residing in Malaysia as part of the visit. Discussions are expected to focus on the provision of services and addressing the needs and concerns of Maldivians living abroad.
The President is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Cabinet Ministers and senior Government officials. The visit aims to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and Malaysia and enhance cooperation across areas of shared interest.
