Ooredoo Maldives, in partnership with Qatar Charity, has completed renovations on Masjid Al Sheikh Qasim bin Al-Thani (Hulhumalé Grand Mosque), installing a modern air conditioning system to enhance worshippers’ comfort in time for Ramadan.
A re-inauguration ceremony was held at the mosque on 27 February 2025, attended by key figures, including Faisal Rashid Al-Fehaida, CEO Assistant for Programs & Community Development at Qatar Charity, Khalid Al-Hamadi, CEO of Ooredoo Maldives, and Adam Azim, the Mayor of Malé City, along with senior officials from the Housing Development Corporation and Ooredoo Maldives.
The Hulhumalé Grand Mosque, which was built in 2006, accommodates over 1,800 worshippers. The renovation ensures a more comfortable environment, particularly during large congregational prayers. The mosque’s geometric ceiling design and tree-lined grounds continue to serve as a serene setting for worship.
Speaking at the event, Ooredoo Maldives CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi reaffirmed the company’s commitment to community development beyond telecommunications, stating that “ensuring essential community spaces remain accessible and well-maintained is a key part of our mission.” He expressed gratitude to Qatar Charity for its collaboration in making the renovation possible.
Faisal Rashid Al-Fehaida, representing Qatar Charity, emphasised the importance of giving back, particularly in projects that serve communities during significant religious periods. He praised Ooredoo Maldives for its dedication to social good and reaffirmed Qatar Charity’s commitment to supporting similar community-driven initiatives in the future.
This project reflects Ooredoo Maldives’ ongoing support for cultural and spiritual values, reinforcing its role as a company invested in meaningful community engagement.
