Ooredoo Maldives to Introduce Samsung eSIM Wearables, a First in the Country

Ooredoo Maldives is set to launch the country’s first-ever eSIM-enabled wearable service, introducing Samsung smartwatches with seamless connectivity. The upcoming launch marks a significant milestone in wearable technology for the Maldives, allowing users to stay connected directly from their smartwatch without needing a phone nearby.

With Samsung’s eSIM-enabled smartwatches, Ooredoo customers will be able to make calls, send messages, stream music, and access apps independently. This breakthrough technology ensures a hassle-free experience for those who want greater flexibility in staying connected while on the move.

Ooredoo Maldives’ CEO and Managing Director, Khalid Al-Hamadi, highlighted the company’s commitment to bringing the latest innovations to the Maldivian market. “With Samsung eSIM wearables, we are unlocking new possibilities for connectivity, making it easier for our customers to stay in touch, track their fitness, and manage their daily activities effortlessly,” he said.

SangHwa Song, Managing Director of Samsung Sri Lanka and Maldives, echoed this sentiment, stating that the partnership with Ooredoo reflects Samsung’s focus on enhancing digital lifestyles. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Ooredoo Maldives to introduce eSIM functionality on our smartwatches, empowering customers to stay connected anytime, anywhere—without needing their phone,” he said.

The Samsung eSIM wearable service will soon be available for Ooredoo Maldives customers, allowing them to activate their smartwatch with their existing mobile number. Additional details, including the list of supported devices and activation instructions, are expected to be announced in the coming days.
