Ooredoo Nation has launched the Ooredoo Nation Atoll eSports League 2025, the biggest eSports competition of its kind in the Maldives, uniting 49 teams from 35 islands across 16 atolls. The tournament centres on the popular mobile game PUBG Mobile, offering players from across the country an opportunity to compete on a national stage.
The league began with its Group Stage on 20 August and will run until 3 September. It will conclude with a four-day finals series scheduled from 5 to 8 September, where the top teams will battle for a prize pool of MVR 50,000.
Prizes include MVR 25,000 for first place, MVR 12,000 for second, MVR 6,000 for third, and MVR 3,000 for fourth. The most valuable player will receive MVR 4,000.
According to Ooredoo Maldives, the competition represents a milestone in empowering Maldivian gamers, providing opportunities regardless of geography and underlining the ability of digital platforms to connect communities. Teams participating in this year’s league include representatives from Addu City, Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, Raa, Lhaviyani, and several other atolls.
The tournament marks a step forward in the growth of eSports in the Maldives, highlighting both the rising popularity of gaming and the role of digital platforms in shaping youth culture.
