Ooredoo Nation Launches First-Ever Inter-College Esports Championship in Maldives

Ooredoo Nation has announced the launch of the Inter College Esports Championship 2025 — the first national-level collegiate tournament of its kind in the Maldives.

Scheduled to commence on 29th May 2025, the championship invites student teams from colleges across the country to compete in three popular titles: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, and EAFC 25. The event promises a prize pool of MVR 10,000 for each game, creating a high-stakes and high-energy platform for rising student talent.

This initiative marks a significant step in Ooredoo Maldives’ broader strategy to empower youth through digital platforms and build a thriving esports ecosystem in the country. In a statement, the company described the tournament as a vehicle for “student expression, competition, and collaboration.”

The format includes both online and in-person components. Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile will begin online on 29th May, while EAFC 25 will kick off as a physical event on 30th May. To be eligible, teams must consist exclusively of college students and meet the minimum participation requirements: at least four students for Mobile Legends, three for PUBG Mobile, and a full student team for EAFC 25.

Teams can register through dedicated links on Ooredoo Nation’s website. Registration closes at 23:59 on 25th May 2025, with a participation fee of MVR 100 per game. Each team must also submit an authorisation letter from their college and a high-quality version of their institution’s logo.

The matches will be live-streamed on Ooredoo Nation’s YouTube channel, while regular updates and team standings will be shared on the organisation’s social media pages.

As esports continues to gain traction worldwide, this championship positions the Maldives firmly on the digital sports map and lays the groundwork for future inter-college competitions.
