
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has arrived in Bangladesh on an official visit to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the country’s new government.
The visit follows an invitation from Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The ceremony is scheduled for 17 February 2026.
According to the President’s Office, the visit, which runs from 16 to 18 February, will also include a meeting with the newly elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman.
Images shared by the President’s Office show President Muizzu being received by Bangladeshi officials upon arrival and holding initial discussions during the visit.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Bangladesh were established on 22 September 1978. Cooperation between the two countries has traditionally covered areas such as trade, labour mobility, and bilateral engagement.
