President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with H.E.President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, during his current two-day official visit to Sri Lanka.
President Solih and President Rajapaksa held an extensive discussion on a wide array of subjects of mutual interest and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthen Maldives-Sri Lanka cooperation in the coming years.
President Solih also attended the official luncheon hosted in his honour by the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa. Prior to the luncheon, President Solih took time to converse with the Prime Minister on topics of mutual interest.
The President and First Lady’s visit to Sri Lanka is to officiate the opening ceremony of the “Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy 2021” football tournament. The Maldives and Sri Lanka will play against each other at the opening match of the tournament, participated by national football teams from the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Seychelles.
