In a statement issued by the Auditor General’s office, it was stated that work is underway to establish a professional accounting body in the country.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Auditor training program held for training licensed auditors, the Assistant Auditor General Mr. Hussain Niyaz stated that the Auditor Generals office is preparing to submit the draft of the relevant legislation to the parliament for approval. He also added that this would lay down the necessary foundations to practice professional accounting and auditing in the country.
The program was conducted to train licensed auditors in conjunction with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Srilanka and 45 participants completed the training
