The President has ratified changes to the National Social Health Insurance Scheme Act. The bill approving the amendment to this law was passed by the present Majlis during the 37th sitting this year, on the 21st of August.
The amended provision refers to section 42 (A) of the law, specifying the Ministry responsible for overseeing the country’s overall national social health insurance framework.
The overarching intention of these changes is to streamline government services regarding social health insurance, by ensuring that it falls under the mandate of the appropriate ministry.
As social policy falls under the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services, henceforth this Ministry will be responsible for the implementation of the provisions of this Act.
The amended law has now been published in the Gazette.
