Reactivation Window Closing for Inactive Companies

Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has issued a final reminder to inactive companies, warning that the deadline to apply for reactivation expires on 30 December.

In a social media announcement, the Ministry cautioned that companies which fail to submit reactivation applications by the deadline will face mandatory liquidation in accordance with the Companies Act.

Firms listed as inactive are able to verify their status by scanning a QR code shared through the Ministry’s official platforms. Companies seeking to resume operations are required to submit a formal reactivation request via the Ministry’s business portal. The application must include a board-approved resolution, annual financial statements, corporate reports, and proof of payment to Maldives Inland Revenue Authority.

The Ministry stated that applications which meet all requirements will be processed, with approvals for the resumption of business activities issued within 15 days. Businesses that remain inactive beyond the deadline risk being legally dissolved under existing regulations.

The Ministry has urged affected companies to act without delay to avoid liquidation and ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
