Registrations have officially opened for Ooredoo Masrace 2025, the popular fishing competition that celebrates Maldivian maritime heritage with a mix of spirited races and community gatherings. Organised in partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, the event will be held across two islands this August.
The 2025 edition will take place on 22 August in K. Huraa and on 29 August in Sh. Funadhoo, bringing together teams of fishing enthusiasts from across the country. Interested teams, consisting of 12 members including a captain and officials, can register online until 23:59 on 30 July.

With a prize pool exceeding MVR 80,000, this year’s event promises not only competition but recognition. The top team will receive MVR 25,000, followed by MVR 10,000 for second place and MVR 5,000 for third. Special accolades will also be awarded to the best fisherman and best fisherwoman.
But Masrace is more than just a race. It’s a celebration of community spirit, teamwork and tradition.
