The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has passed to increase the salaries of civil service administrative workers, and has presented it to the National Pay Commission (NPC).
While 24,514 employees are currently employed as civil servants, the largest number of these workers is within the administration sector. The CSC proposed to raise the salaries of these workers by at least 30 percent, which is about an additional MVR 4000-5000 to the basic pay.
According to the CSC, the commission has proposed to increase the salaries of four groups of civil workers. This includes clerical support workers, associate professionals, professionals and directors. In addition to this, pay formats of all four of these categories of workers have been approved by the commission.
The changes have now been presented to the NPC, who will be making the final decision.
