Second Edition of Maldives Maritime Conference Scheduled for 15 April 2026

The second edition of the Maldives Maritime Conference is scheduled to take place on 15 April 2026, with discussions expected to focus on maritime security, safety, and cooperation across the sector.

According to Maldives Ports Limited, the 2026 conference will be held under the theme “Securing Our Seas, Safeguarding Our Future.” The event is expected to convene policymakers, industry stakeholders, and maritime professionals to examine evolving challenges affecting maritime operations in island and regional contexts.

Key areas identified for discussion include emerging maritime threats, port and ship security, regional and local maritime perspectives, maritime law and international cooperation, and safety at sea and emergency response. The agenda reflects a broad approach that spans operational, legal, and security-related dimensions of the maritime sector.

The inaugural Maldives Maritime Conference took place on 6 March 2024 at Villa Nautica. Organised by Maldives Ports Limited, the one-day event brought together local and international representatives to explore issues such as maritime transport connectivity, emerging technologies and energy efficiency, with participation from bodies including the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Building on the foundation set by the first conference, the 2026 edition aims to continue sector-wide engagement on maritime risks, safety and cooperation, as well as the Maldives’ role within the wider regional maritime environment.
