The new president of the Maldives, Hon. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced that the permission will be granted for shops and cafe’s to operate for 24 hours a day.
During the speech at the oath-taking ceremony, Hon. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had outlined the tasks scheduled for the first 100 days of the new government. Hence, granting permission for businesses to operate for 24 hours a day is included in the agenda of the first 30 days where the details have not yet been revealed by the government.
The permission had also been given to shops, cafe’s and restaurants to operate for 24 hours during the reign of the former president, Mr Mohamed Nasheed in December 2010 which
There had been numerous requests by several individuals to solve traffic issues in Male’ and to introduce businesses which can operate 24 hours to provide more convenience for those who work in shift duties. The opening of SME bank and providing financial services for the development of small and mid-range businesses have also been included in the agenda of the first month of the new government.
The regulations which are not in favour of businesses will also be amended and reviewed during the first 100 days of the new government while regulations such as consumer protection law and anti-trust law have been submitted to People’s
