A forum targeted at small businesses has been held in the Southernmost Atoll, Addu City. This forum was organised by Ministry of Economic Development. According to Deputy Minister Mr Adam Thaufeeq, 250 businesses participated and productive information was provided to the attendees by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) and several business institutions during this forum. The minister also highlighted that the main purpose of such forums is to inform the SME’s about the new developments and opportunities related to their businesses.
This is the first in a series of investment forums planned to be held by the Ministry and the next one is scheduled to be held in Meemu Atoll, Muli. Ministry of Economic Development also opened the company, Business Centre Corporation Ltd. (BCC) to help empower the small businesses in Maldives.
