SriLankan Airlines has launched direct flights to Japan, Tokyo from the Maldives.
Direct flights to Tokyo from the Maldives commenced on June 25th. SriLankan Airlines will operate four weekly flights from Velana International Airport (VIA) to Narita International Airport in Tokyo.
Japan is one of the top 10 travel markets for the Maldives, where Japanese tourists are mostly attracted to the dive points of Maldives.
According to statistics of the Ministry of Tourism, by the end of June, 22,624 tourists arrived to the Maldives from Japan which is an increase of 18% compared to the same period of last year.
With the commencement of direct flights between Japan and Maldives, the Ministry expects to a rise in numbers of tourist arrivals from Japan.
