Maldivian recorded strong passenger demand for its seasonal international services to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok during the recent holiday travel period, with most flights operating at close to full capacity.
The seasonal services were introduced to support peak holiday travel and attracted sustained interest from Maldivian travellers throughout the season. More than 2,120 passengers travelled on the Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok routes, reflecting continued demand for regional leisure travel, including short getaways, shopping trips, and onward travel during the school holiday and year end period.
The performance of the Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok services highlights the popularity of regional destinations among Maldivian passengers and reflects the airline’s demand led approach to network planning during peak travel periods.
During the same period, Maldivian increased capacity across its wider international network by operating additional services to Trivandrum and Kochi, alongside aircraft upgrades on selected high demand flights to enhance capacity and passenger comfort. Additional flights were also operated to Jeddah to accommodate Umrah travel during the busy holiday season.
Across its domestic network, the airline operated more than 500 additional flights between mid December and the end of January to support increased passenger movement during the peak holiday period, with further services planned in the weeks ahead. Seaplane operations also recorded higher activity levels, supporting resort transfers and elevated tourist movement across the Maldives during one of the busiest periods of the year.
Overall, the holiday season reflected steady demand across Maldivian’s international, domestic, and seaplane operations, demonstrating the airline’s ability to respond to evolving travel patterns. Looking ahead, the airline plans to continue focusing on demand led network planning through targeted seasonal services, while strengthening operations across its network to support future travel demand.
