Maldivians travelling to Thailand can now enjoy a longer stay without the need for a visa, thanks to a recent policy change by the Thai government. The Foreign Ministry announced today that Maldivians can now stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa, doubling the previous 30-day on-arrival visa period.
This change, which took effect on Monday, offers additional facilities for Maldivians visiting Thailand for various purposes, including vacations, medical treatment, or business. The Foreign Ministry highlighted that this policy update aims to strengthen the ties between the two nations and facilitate smoother travel for Maldivian citizens.
Travellers wishing to extend their stay beyond the 60-day period can apply for a visa extension through the Thai Immigration Department before their initial stay expires.
The Foreign Ministry also emphasised the importance of obtaining travel insurance and respecting the laws and regulations of the destination country. They urged Maldivians to prepare adequately before embarking on their journeys to ensure a safe and trouble-free experience abroad.
This new visa policy is expected to boost travel and tourism between the Maldives and Thailand, providing Maldivians with greater flexibility and convenience during their visits.
