Travellers heading to Thailand will be required to complete a new digital arrival form before entering the country, following recent changes to the country’s immigration procedures. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card will be mandatory for all passengers starting from the first day of next month.
The Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press statement issued yesterday, confirmed that the new requirement applies to all visitors, including Maldivians. The online form must be completed three days prior to travelling to Thailand.
While the new system introduces an additional pre-departure step, the Foreign Ministry clarified that it does not affect the visa arrangements currently in place between the Maldives and Thailand. Maldivians will still be able to travel to Thailand under the existing 90-day entry visa scheme.
The ministry has advised Maldivians planning travel to Thailand to ensure they complete the digital arrival form before departure, and reiterated the importance of complying with the laws and regulations of countries being visited.
