Tourism Minister Highlights Role of Global Trends in Sustaining Maldives’ Tourism

The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim, highlighted the importance of keeping up with evolving global trends to maintain the Maldives’ position as a leading international tourist destination.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of a tourism training programme conducted by Patina Maldives at Fari Islands, the Minister remarked that such initiatives contribute to building a skilled workforce, particularly among young people, and support the overall development of the tourism sector.

He also noted the significance of innovation and adaptability in the industry, emphasising that staying informed about changes in global tourism and technology is essential for young professionals. According to the Minister, ongoing education and a focus on quality are key to sustaining the country’s appeal to international visitors.

The three-year training programme concluded with the graduation of twelve students and provided specialised instruction in room service and food and beverage service. It is diploma-level and accredited by the EHL Hospitality Business School in Switzerland.
