The Ministry of Tourism has recently unveiled plans to auction two islands within the Bodu Thiladhunmathi region for the establishment and operation of tourist resorts. The identified islands are North Thiladhunmathi (A) HA. Medhafushi and North Thiladhunmathi (B) Sh. Nalandhoo.
This initiative aims to bolster tourism in the Thiladhunmathi area, support the economic viability of the ongoing Hanimaadhoo International Airport project, and foster job opportunities through enhanced local economic activities.
Previously, HA. Medhafushi had been made available for development via auction. This marks the inaugural time that Sh. Nalandhoo has been presented in a similar manner.
For those interested in cultivating resorts on these islands, an online information clarification meeting is scheduled to be conducted through Zoom on Wednesday, 30th August at 11:00 pm. Prospective developers should note the deadline for bid submission, which is set for 21st September 2023 at 10:00 pm, as outlined by the Ministry of Tourism.
