The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade announced today a delay in the full transition to the “Tradian” platform—the Maldives’ first National Single Window system—which will unify trade-related processes, including permits, documentation, and payments, into a single online portal. The transition has been postponed until further notice.
The system was officially launched on April 20. The full transition to use Tradian over the other government portals was scheduled for today.
In a gazetted announcement, the ministry said the move has been postponed to allow for additional testing and system integration. According to the Ministry, more time is needed to ensure seamless service delivery, compatibility with related systems, and a smooth user experience for traders and stakeholders.
In the meantime, the Ministry confirmed that import and export-related services will continue to be provided through existing channels until a new launch date is officially announced. The public will be informed as soon as the platform is fully ready to assume its intended functions.
The Tradian platform is part of a broader national push for digitalisation, first outlined during the Cabinet meeting held on February 2, 2025. As announced in a gazette on April 16, the system was intended to serve as a one-stop digital gateway, connecting various border control and trade services operated by government agencies.
Despite the delay, the Ministry reiterated its commitment to modernising trade facilitation in line with the government’s digital transformation goals.
