Velana International Airport has launched the first awards programme in the Maldives dedicated to recognising excellence in the aviation sector.
The Velana Awards aim to honour partners operating at the airport who contribute to strengthening air transport connectivity, enhancing service quality, and supporting the Maldives’ status as a top destination for travellers and business communities. The awards will be presented annually.
The inaugural edition includes 22 awards across three main categories: Passenger Awards, Cargo Awards, and Lounge Awards. A special Airline of the Year award will also be presented to an airline that has demonstrated exceptional performance and made a significant contribution to the aviation sector.
The first Velana Awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday night at Crossroads Maldives.
