Velana International Airport (VIA) announced its partners for the upcoming Air Service World Congress (ASWC) 2024 during a special event at the Noovilu Seaplane Terminal. Key figures attended the event, including the CEO and Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), deputy managing directors, senior management, and esteemed partners.
Mr. Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, CEO and Managing Director of MACL, emphasised the significant role of Velana International Airport in the nation’s progress. “President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has prioritised the development of Velana International Airport with a visionary master plan. This plan will drive national prosperity through aviation development, which aligns with the growth of our tourism sector. She underscored the event’s potential to foster new partnerships and expand networks, thereby increasing both air service to local islands and the number of visitors welcomed each year.

The Air Service World Congress 2024, scheduled to take place from July 9th to 11th at Kurumba Maldives, is the first aviation route development event in the Maldives.
