Velana International Airport’s Terminal 1 has reached another milestone in its phased operations as beOnd commenced services from the new facility. The luxury carrier is the third airline to begin operating from the terminal, following the relocation of Maldivian and Air Arabia.
The occasion was marked with a ceremony attended by Minister at the President’s Office for Presidential Affairs Ali Arif, along with Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) leadership. MACL’s CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Lamaan, and Board members joined representatives from beOnd to celebrate the event.
The ceremony featured the official opening of beOnd’s check-in counters, where departing passengers were presented with welcome gifts. Flight B4091, beOnd’s inaugural service from Terminal 1, was honoured with a water salute, while arriving travellers were greeted with cultural performances and Maldivian hospitality.
Terminal 1 has been designed to serve a wide range of carriers, from the national airline to low-cost and luxury operators. With four more airlines scheduled to relocate this month, the facility is steadily advancing toward its goal of becoming a premier hub for both tourism and travel.
According to MACL, the successful integration of multiple airline segments under one roof highlights Terminal 1’s adaptability and capacity to deliver world-class services that meet the Maldives’ growing aviation needs.
