Villa College Kicks Off Orientation Week for May 2025 Intake

Villa College launched its Orientation Week yesterday to welcome new students enrolled for the May 2025 intake. The three-day programme, known as “O-Week,” aims to familiarise students with the college environment, academic expectations, and key support services. Activities will run through Thursday, 22 May.

The orientation began yesterday afternoon with Faculty Orientation sessions held both on campus and online via Google Meet. From 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., students met with faculty heads and senior lecturers, who shared essential information about academic programmes and student support services.

Today, students will take part in the popular VC Scavenger Hunt, designed to help them explore the campus and engage with staff from departments such as Registration, Finance, Examinations, and Learning Support. Foundation students will join from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., while undergraduate students will participate from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m..

A special welcome session with College Rector Dr Ahmed Anwar will also take place on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the main hall of QI Campus. The session will be streamed live via Zoom to accommodate online learners.

Tomorrow, the college will host the VC Virtual Venture, an interactive session held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. via Google Meet. This event is specifically tailored for distance learning students to help them build connections and ease into the college environment.

“Our hope is that through these activities, every student will gain comprehensive information about the college’s services and opportunities, paving the way for constructive and successful days at the college,” said Fathimath Jazly Amir, Student Services Manager at Villa College.

Villa College continues to prioritise student engagement and support, with Orientation Week reflecting its broader commitment to fostering a welcoming and enriching academic experience.
