Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has launched its first major tourism promotion initiative for 2025, kicking off the “Visit Maldives Week” in Russia. The event, held in collaboration with 22 representatives from 14 Maldivian tourism companies, aims to strengthen the Maldives’ presence in one of its largest source markets.
Spanning three key Russian cities—St. Petersburg on 3rd February, Moscow on 5th February, and Tyumen on 7th February—the roadshow is part of MMPRC’s broader strategy to target both established and emerging tourist markets worldwide. Designed as a platform for industry stakeholders, the event facilitates networking, business collaborations, and the dissemination of updated destination information.
The roadshow features interactive experiences, including photo zones showcasing Maldivian island resorts and properties, as well as a “Maldives Passport” activity that engages attendees through interactive questions and prizes. A dedicated media meet in Moscow is set to provide tailored insights for travel industry journalists and press representatives. Additionally, business-to-business meetings, networking sessions, and destination workshops aim to reinforce the Maldives’ appeal as a top-tier holiday destination.
To further incentivise participation, attendees in St. Petersburg had the opportunity to win a fully sponsored holiday package at Canareef Resort Maldives, featuring a two-night, full-board stay with return transfers for two people.
MMPRC has also lined up a series of promotional activities for the Russian market beyond the roadshow, including webinars, campaigns with tour operators and airlines, media familiarisation trips, and collaborations with destination management companies.
Russia has consistently been one of the Maldives’ top tourism markets. In 2024, the country was the second-largest source of visitors, a trend that continues in 2025, with 20,902 Russian arrivals recorded in January alone. The ongoing promotional efforts aim to further solidify the Maldives as the premier destination for Russian travellers.
