Adidas sold 1 million shoes made from ocean plastic in 2017.
Along with Parley for the oceans, German giants, Adidas introduced 3 versions of its UltraBoost shoe. These shoes are made from plastics found and salvaged from the oceans. Each pair of shoes is made from 11 plastic bottles.
“We last year sold 1 million shoes made out of ocean plastic,” Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted told CNBC in a TV interview.
Adidas expects another year of profit but at a slower pace than 2017.
In 2016, Real Madrid wore kits made out of plastic bottles intercepted in Maldives oceans against Sporting Gijon.
