This year’s Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) – the largest annual running event in the Maldives – will take place in 10 days. The run is scheduled to take place on 27 October 2023 (Friday) at Hulhumale’ Central Park.
Over 4,000 runners have registered to participate in DMRR 2023, which will have a Half Marathon – for the first time in the event’s history – as well as 10K and 5K runs.
DMRR 2023’s partners are:
- UNICEF Maldives as the Gold Partner
- Urbanco as the Hosting Partner
- Maldives Police Service as the Security and safety Partner
- Tree Top Hospital as the Medical Partner
- Maldivian Red Crescent as the First Aid Partner.
The run is also endorsed by the Athletics Associations of the Maldives.
To help participants prepare for the upcoming race, Dhiraagu has partnered with Elite Runners Maldives and Saaid Sports as DMRR Coaching Partners and The Wellness Club as the Wellness Partner of the run. These partners are offering special training to participants on the race day.
Similar to previous years, DMRR 2023 is also dedicated towards the social cause of child protection, providing a platform for NGOs working in child protection to raise awareness and funds for their cause. Dhiraagu will also be awarding five grants of equal amounts to the top five endorsed NGOs nominated by participants at the time of registration to help kick-start their planned activities.
DMRR is the first and only international run held in the Maldives listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar with a World Athletics-certified race route.
