The Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Mr. Ahmed Naseer has resigned from the position.
The Spokesperson of the President, Mr. Ibrahim Hood has confirmed that the MMA Governor sent in a letter of resignation to the President’s office.
Before handing in his resignation, Governor Naseer met with the employees of MMA.
Mr. Naseer was facing allegations filed by former Financial Investigation Unit (FIU)’s head Abdulla Ashraf at the parliament’s Public Finance Committee regarding unconventional activities being conducted within the organization.
Mr. Ahmed Naseer was appointed as Governor of the MMA with effect from 24th August 2017 after the resignation of Dr. Azeema Adam, the former governor on 16th August 2017.
