The inbound tourist arrivals have passed the 50,000 mark from the Indian market according to the latest statistics released by the Tourism Ministry.
In the report released by the ministry for the previous month, tourist arrivals from India totaled at 50,369 and this is and increase of 26.4% from last year’s figures of the same period from 39,848. As per last months stats separately, it was at 6,301 as opposed to last year’s 4,344 and this is an increase of 45%.
This is the result of heavy marketing by Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation, MMPRC. They estimate the numbers to rise steadily for the upcoming year as well. MMPRC works jointly with other private marketing companies topromote the Maldivian Tourism market, combined with airlines such as Maldivian and MEGA Maldives operating directly into India, the prospect for further development in the arrivals from India is very high.
