Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir has said that Islamic centers will be developed in 5 regions of the country in the coming year.
The Minister revealed that in addition to the new projects, the architecture and other administrative work are expected to be completed within this year. Each Islamic center will include a knowledge center and library which will house books related to mathematics, astronomy, science, medicine as well as Persian and contemporary books.
Moreover, the architecture of the center will include space to allow religious discussion and debates, along with additional facilities to conduct other religious works.
Maldives currently has two Islamic Centres, one in Male’ and GDh. Thinadhoo.
