Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Fukang has announced that Chinese national airline, Air China, is preparing to begin direct flights between Maldives and Beijing.
Speaking to reporters, Ambassador Wang Fukang said that the Chinese Embassy in Maldives is supporting this endeavor and that he hopes to see operations commence soon. He also expressed his confidence that Chinese tourists visiting Maldives will increase exponentially with the new flights.
Two airlines currently operate direct flights between Maldives and Chinese capital Beijing, Mega Maldives (local) and Capital Airlines (Chinese). Several other airlines operate charter flights between the two countries.
