President Dr Mohamed Muizzu returned to Malé on Saturday night after concluding an unofficial visit to Singapore.
The President departed for Singapore on Monday. The President’s Office did not release further details regarding the purpose of the visit, its duration, or the President’s expected return date during his time abroad.
The trip marked President Muizzu’s first unofficial visit to Singapore in 2026. He travelled to the country twice in 2025, visiting in July and again in December.
Singapore has remained an important destination in the President’s international engagements. In June 2025, President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed undertook a state visit to Singapore.
The President’s return follows another overseas engagement earlier this month, when he and the First Lady travelled to Sri Lanka on a state visit. During that visit, the Maldives and Sri Lanka signed seven memoranda of understanding covering a range of sectors.
According to the President’s Office, discussions in Sri Lanka focused on strengthening diplomatic relations, enhancing bilateral cooperation and promoting cultural exchange between the two countries.
