Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has concluded its Port Safety Week Run 2021. This run was the last activity under the Port Safety Week initiated from 26th December to 31st December 2021.
The run, which took place on Friday morning, is dedicated to raise awareness on the importance of safety, and to promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
Over 100 runners took part in the run which was held at Hulhumale’ International Terminal. The top three places were chosen with the women’s category and the men’s category, and the winners were presented cash prizes. First place runners were awarded MVR 2,500; second place runners were awarded MVR 1,500 and third place runners were awarded MVR 500.
Prizes for the winners from the women’s category were handed over by MPL’s Chairman Captain Mohmed Shareef, while prizes for the winners from the men’s category were handed over by MPL’s CEO Shahid Ali.
MPL also partnered with Advocating for the Rights of Children (ARC), to donate the funds raised from the official jersey sales. A total of MVR 23,700 was raised, and the donation was handed over by MPL’s Chief Financial Officer Mohamed Muiz.
On the sidelines of the event, MPL also hosted a children’s drawing competition at Hulhumale’ International Terminal.
MPL stated that the main target of the Port Safety Week is to create awareness and to build a safety culture in port operations.
