Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has provided an update on the Gdh. Gahdhoo Harbour Development Project.
According to MTCC, the project has reached a significant milestone with the delivery of the second shipment of rock boulders to the project site. The project aims to improve the harbour’s capacity, facilitating trade.
The construction work at the site is progressing as per schedule, with the quay wall block installation currently underway and showing 43% completion. The project’s scope of work includes a variety of activities, starting from dredging and excavation operations of 23,017cbm to constructing a 232m breakwater, a 35m revetment, and a 320m quay wall. The project also includes the construction of a 320m Scouring Apron, a bridge, installation of 1600sqm harbour pavement and harbour lights.
The MVR 40.2 million project is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy by enhancing the harbour’s capacity, and improving the transportation of goods and people.
