Hanimaadhoo Island Council has recently announced the availability of 12 land plots in the Hanimaadhoo tourism zone.
The council has decided to lease out four plots, measuring 10,000 square feet each, for a period of 40 years, while the remaining eight plots, measuring 5,000 square feet each, will be leased for a period of 30 years. All plots are intended for tourism purposes.
To inform potential stakeholders about this opportunity, an information session will be held at the Hanimaadhoo Council office on July 24 at 10:30 a.m.
Interested parties are encouraged to attend and gain insights into the leasing process. Subsequently, bids for the land plots will be accepted until August 6 at 10:30 a.m. It is important to note that bids submitted without attending the information session or after the deadline will not be considered.
The government’s efforts to boost tourist arrivals and support tourism expansion in the northern region include initiatives such as establishing more resorts, city hotels, and guesthouses. Additionally, a modernisation project for Hanimaadhoo International Airport was launched to improve infrastructure and enhance travel experiences.
However, the development of tourism in the northern region faces certain challenges, including the lack of direct flights and high transportation costs. Acknowledging this, the government has set its sights on enhancing transportation infrastructure and accessibility to address these issues effectively. Currently, there are five guesthouses located in Hanimaadhoo.
