Maldivian, the national carrier of the Maldives, has announced a tender for the finance lease of two ATR 42-600 aircraft as part of its fleet expansion efforts. The order for the lease of these aircraft is in the final stages of confirmation. Interested parties have been invited to submit proposals by July 22.
This addition to the fleet is expected to enhance operational capabilities and replace ageing Dash-8 aircraft. Maldivian has already introduced three ATR aircraft, which have proven to be reliable replacements. The first ATR 42-600 will be delivered in late 2023, with the second scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
The leasing initiative aligns with Maldivian’s vision of providing a safe, comfortable, and modern travel experience. In addition to this announcement, the airline procured five additional ATR aircraft leases in April.
Last year, Maldivian expanded its fleet by leasing an Airbus A123LR, and plans were unveiled in February to lease two Airbus A330-200 aircraft, showcasing its commitment to fleet expansion and diversification.
