The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort has announced the appointment of Debanjan Kundu, who joins the wellness focused resort as Director of Sales and Marketing. No stranger to Marriott International, Debanjan has worked with various brands within the company including Sheraton, Westin, as well as The Ritz-Carlton in his career journey spanning almost two decades of diverse hospitality operation and management.
Debanjan started his hospitality career as a Corporate Trainee at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata, and later shifted his focus to the sales function, where his outgoing and process-driven personality helped him excel in formulating strategies for market expansion and growth. His MBA degree in marketing from the University of Wales, Trinity St. David, further equipped him with the knowledge and skills to succeed in his career.
Throughout his career, Debanjan held several Director of Sales and Marketing positions at luxury hotels across India, including hotels in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Prior to coming onboard The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, he was the Senior Director of Sales-India at Amadeus.
On joining The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, Debanjan said, “I am excited to return to Marriott International and join this wellness oasis located in Baa Atoll, the first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve site in the Maldives. Being in a destination like the Maldives, with a global source market, I strongly feel this opportunity will allow me to leverage on my experience and bring many business opportunities to the resort.
