Villa College announced the inauguration of a mental health treatment facility, the ‘VCare Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre,’ making it the first such centre established by a higher education institution in the country.
The official opening took place yesterday at Villa College, with Dr Ahmed Anwar, the Rector of Villa College, leading the ceremony. Dr Anwar highlighted the centre’s primary objective of creating a mentally healthy environment for students and staff of Villa College and Villa International High School. He noted that the centre aims to improve the quality of education and address challenges faced by the college community.
The ‘WeCare Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre’ will provide psychosocial support, counselling, psychotherapy, and psychological assessment services. Students pursuing Bachelors in Psychology and Masters of Science (Counselling) at Villa College will have internship opportunities at the centre for academic and professional experience.
Operating hours are from 09:00 am to 09:00 pm on non-official holidays, and the services are open to the general public. Appointments can be scheduled through the centre’s website: https://vcare.villacollege.edu.mv
