The Government has awarded the contract for the development of a smart and sustainable warehouse complex in Hulhumale’ to Rotime Engineering and Technology Co Limited, a company from Hong Kong, China.
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has officially signed a contract with Rotime Engineering and Technology Co Limited to spearhead the development of this warehouse complex, aimed at providing storage and warehousing solutions for local businesses.
The agreement was formally signed by HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and Managing Director of Rotime Zhou Weidong.
According to HDC, this initiative, which is primarily financed by the contractor, is slated to be completed within a two-year timeframe.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Fazul underscored the significance of the complex in addressing the shortage of godowns or warehouses experienced by local businesses, irrespective of their scale.
He also highlighted the pivotal role the complex will play in bolstering trade and commerce across the Maldives.
In addition to offering ample storage space, the warehouses will be equipped with adequate parking facilities and solar panels, aligning with sustainable development goals.
The development of a warehouse complex to support local businesses aligns with a key promise outlined in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s campaign manifesto.
