The first event, titled “From Ambitions to Practice: Advancing SIDS4 Goals through the CSRI Initiative,” took place on 27 May. It emphasized the Climate Smart Resilient Islands (CSRI) initiative, launched in 2019, which seeks sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by small island countries and aims to bolster climate change resilience. Minister Thoriq called for collaboration among environmentally sensitive small island nations.
The second side event, “The Pivotal Role of Public-Private Partnerships for Climate Resilience in SIDS: Lessons from the Maldives,” was held on 28 May. This event showcased the efforts of both the public and private sectors in tackling climate change challenges and promoting sustainable development.
