The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moosa Zameer, held a productive meeting with Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), during his official visit to China. The discussions centred on bolstering collaboration in key infrastructure projects crucial for the sustainable development of the Maldives.
Minister Zameer underscored the importance of the partnership between the Maldives and CIDCA, highlighting ongoing initiatives and exploring new opportunities for cooperation. Both parties agreed on the necessity of timely implementation of projects aimed at improving infrastructure and fostering economic growth in the Maldives, thereby providing significant benefits for the Maldivian people.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to close collaboration, ensuring the successful execution of future initiatives that benefit both nations.
Minister Zameer was accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, Minister of Finance, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr. Fazeel Najeeb, Ambassador-Designate, along with senior officials from the Government of Maldives and the Embassy of Maldives in China.
Following the meeting, Minister Zameer witnessed the signing of the “Letters of Exchange on the Feasibility Study for the Redevelopment of Malé and Villimalé Roads Project,” a key pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration. The signing was executed by Dr. Abdulla Muththalib on behalf of the Maldives and Luo Zhaohui on behalf of the Government of China.
This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing the Maldives’ infrastructure, aligning with the government’s vision for sustainable development and improved quality of life for its citizens. The collaborative efforts with CIDCA are expected to accelerate the progress of vital infrastructure projects, further solidifying the strong bilateral relations between the Maldives and China.
