Nexia Maldives marked Nexia Week with a one-day sustainability event held on 25th January 2024, in partnership with Summer Island Maldives. Nexia Week is an annual celebration organised by Nexia, a global network of independent accounting and consulting firms, and this year it focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) themes.
Nexia Maldives, established in 2007 and formerly known as FJS – Consulting, Tax, Assurance, is a leading consultancy firm in the Maldives. The firm offers a comprehensive range of services, including socio-economic research, policy consulting, development planning, management and financial consulting, and tax and assurance services.
The event brought together local and international delegates who engaged in activities aimed at raising awareness about sustainability. Attendees learned about various initiatives, including reef generation efforts and coral nurseries, and participated in a coral planting initiative.
Hamid Sodique, Managing Director of Nexia Maldives, highlighted the importance of the event, saying, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Summer Island Maldives to mark Nexia Week and raise awareness about the critical impact of climate change on coral reefs. This partnership highlights the vulnerability of our natural environment and emphasises how our livelihoods are directly impacted. By learning about and addressing these challenges together, we hope to foster a deeper understanding and commitment to preserving our precious and valuable ecosystems.”
The event is part of Nexia Maldives’ broader commitment to sustainability and ESG principles, reinforcing the firm’s dedication to addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices within the Maldives.
